italdesign made it for lamborghini to become the proposed "baby lambo" but lamborghini decided to stick with in house design and create the gallardo. Zagato also made the raptor for the same purpose.

Hello,
note that the raptor from Zagato was actually built on a Diablo chassis, with the V12 engine and dual turbo's, that doesn't sound like a 'baby Lamborghini' to me does it.
I have an article on the Zagato Raptor somewhere were they explain why Zagato created the very special Raptor, but I know for sure it wasn't to be used as a new 'entry level' model like the Gallardo would become.
