Battery replacement

Just a heads up because I screwed up. I needed to replace my 12v battery on a 1996 rolla and measured Length, Width, Depth and made sure I new the positive post was on the left side of the battery as you faced the car. Off I go nine miles one way to the store find the battery I need. Check while at the store Width, Length, and Depth and make sure positive post would be on the left side when I placed the battery into the holder on the rolla. Drive back 9 miles in the Midwest Ice storm you'er hearing about drop the battery into the holder and the positive and negative cables won't reach the posts.

I didn't observed the first time that the posts can be either to the front edge of the battery or to the back edge once you position battery in the holder. And naturally I needed my battery posts to the back edge and rolla's don't have extra length in their battery cables. So off I go in the ice storm, explain this to the store clerk who had no idea what I was talking about and picked up the right battery.

Man I remember the days of my 56 Chevy and you had enough battery cable you could use them as tie downs for the battery ( well almost).

Just remember, check Length, width, depth and study the location of where the battery posts are positioned on the top of the battery and save yourself some time and frustration.

Ummm.... why didn't you just rotate the battery 180*? :screwy:

Probably why the clerk had no idea of what you were talking about... :shakehead .

I guess I wasn't clear. Rotating 180 would place the + terminal further away and the cables were already to short.
