96 Town Car Firing Problem

I have a 96 Town Car Stretch that has developed a wierd problem that I have never encountered and wondered if anyone has an idea. The drivers side coil is only firing on two of the plugs. Replaced wires and changed coil to no avail. I guess the computer is the next place to look? Thanks to the experts in advance.

Before replacing the $$$$ computer, try swaping coil packs side to side. I believe they are the same. See if the problem moves to the opposite side. Do you still have your old original coil packs? Try the one from the right side of those. Were the replacement coils aftermarket? Coil packs can be a pain. I've taken new aftermarket ones out of the box and they were no good. Let me know if you need a good set of used ones. [email protected]

Good luck:smokin:

Had to jump in the trash can after the new one did not cure it. Thanks for the advice. I sure do not want to continue the search for the ECU. Think the operative numbers are 6-18-E. Nobody has one in my neck of the woods. Livin' in paradise...Fl.....and diggin' fer parts. Thanks a ton for the insight and knowledge.

Well I guess the stars are aligned properly for me this week. Turned out to be, of all things, a bad wire in the harness. The tan/green wire was open. Ran a replacement till I can hook up a new/used harness.8 runs a ton better than 6..haha. I would've never thunk, but I guess anything is possible. Sure glad I found this site though. Got me thinkin' in the right direction. Thanks once again.
J.
