Antennas on 01 intrigue gls?

Hey does anyone know why there are two antennas on my intrigue in the back? One I assume is on star but I don't know about the other one...

They are definately not stock. No Intrigue that I have ever seen has these. Probably for a car phone or something.

Some one wanted to 1) look cool with two cell phone antennas, 2) tried to make the car balanced cutting through the air at 200mph+, or 3) had too much money and actually had more than 1 cell phone installed in the car! Check on the inside of the glass, you'll probably only see 1 wire leading away under the headliner/garnish molding from the one on the passenger side. The other one is for show. Passenger side installation was factory for most if not all of the On-Star setups when I worked at GM.

Well I just went out and checked and there are cords coming from both antennas

Sounds to me like its time to start tearing things apart and figure out where those cords go. But then again thats just me.

Well, like I said, someone had way too much money and had two cell phones installed. It is also possible that it is a "Ham" antenna, some of the shorter wavelength amateur antennas utilize a cell-like unit. I'd suggest you do as little hoov states, or you could just leave it. It wouldn't be easy to lose your car in the parking lot if you put little orange balls on the ends of the two antennae! (just kidding!!)

That's quite odd. Typical Intrigues that have Onstar (very few) have in on the DRIVER's side, as with all other 2nd gen W-bodies built before the 2005 model year. The G/K bodies have it on the passenger's side. HOWEVER, I do know that it was an option on Buick Park Avenues circa 2003 to have dual Onstar antennas, one on either side. What year is your Intrigue? I wonder if 2002's had this available, as I don't know that I've seen an 02 with Onstar?
