Truck Cap fitting

Hey guys, I'm looking at picking up a cap for the winter, mainly for a trip over christmas. I've been looking at used ones, and have found a good deal on one off a 94. My truck is a 2000 silverado Ext cab Long box. The cap is off a 94 1/2 ton chev with long box. Would the cap fit? The cap is an hour and a half away, so I cant just go pop it on to see if it fits.

The guy says the outside dimensions are '67" wide by 8 feet long'. My truck seems to be a little wider (69-70"), and about 99-100" long. Is there a difference in the size of the box, or is it perhaps just measurement error on his part? I've never had a cap on, so I'm not really sure how they fit, just looking for a little advice here.

Thanks guys,
Evan

Unfortunately the bed is different. I've seen them with the wrong cap, you can make it work but it doesn't look too pretty. I think the biggest issue is the shape of the back of the cab. The older trucks were much more square shaped.

Hmmm. ok. Another angle. I really only need it for a short trip, and can borrow one belonged to a co-worker with a 97 W/T. I'm assuming the issue you mean is the shape of the rear of the cab, when looking from the rear of the truck. The front top corners of the cap will stick out on the sides? Will the cap protect the bed of the truck from the elements? Or will it be too short, and allow rain/snow in one end? I think it'd be wide enough.

Try it out. If it works, great.

If its just a one time thing and you don't care about the looks, I've seen people just nail some plywood together and use it as a makeshift cap. That way you can make it as tall as you need it. Probably pretty cheep too. Or you could just go get a cap that fits your truck. Just my :2cents:

Yea, its just a one time thing, and no i dont care how it looks. I'm going to go pop my co-worker's cap on today, to see if it'll seal. If it does, great, I've got a solution. If not, I'm just gonna tarp it.
