After wondering what it could be for a while it ended up being as simple as the center caps on the wheel covers. and here i was think i'd never know what it was or it might cost an arm and a leg to cure. it did endup costing me a new cat and exhaust but it was due one anyway. guess i should start the process of elimination from little to big next time. thanks for the suggestions though
QUESTION:
Anybody know what is the largest diameter tire i can get which would still have wide whitewall?
Thanks in advance

Wide whitewall? as in like the entire sidewall is white as on the old '50s-ish cars? Look in car magazines for thier classic tire ads and youi'll be sure to find a dealer for them.

You laugh about a center cap noise. Years ago one of the guys I worked with had a Camaro that he wrecked and got back from the body shop. It had a noise from the rear that made him wonder if he damaged an axle bearing. We drove it around real quiet, even got out to listen to the car while the other drove it. I told him to stop and give me a screwdriver. I took off the trim ring from the one wheel and the noise stopped, it was the trim ring. So look at the improbable cheap and easy stuff first.
