My 16yr old sisters 87 cutlas's A.T. slips horriably. From what I've been told it runs as if its low on fluid not all the time just every now and then it does it between shifts. Now I know it leaks around the tranny filter very bad.(2 quarts a wk).
As of yesterday around 40mph or so the transmission gives out totally shootin' RMS way up before shifting. Not sure exactly when or between what gears it does it cause I've not driven it. But any help, thought, advice would REALLY BE ALOTTA HELP .
SORRY FOR ERGENCY ITS JUST HER ONLY WAY TO SCHOOL THANKS YALL
i'LL DRIVE THIS WEEK AND BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE THE THING BETTER. IT'S A16 YR OLDS DESCRIPTION SORRY.
Could it possibly be the TORQUE CONVERTER ya'll think?

Welcome to AF.
SOunds like you need an overhaul that trany.
Could be many things,
but the obvios running it low on fluid will damage the clutches and thats not good ! :grinno:
Could just be a shift soleniod, but I would take it to a reputable trans shop and get it scanned with thier fancy tool(s). Should be able to pin point what's not working.
Here is a link on testing some transmisions if you feel comfortable doing it your self.
http://www.atraonline.com/manuals/general/tetdv/tetdv-c3g.htm - (might not be model specific)
Here is a link for replacing the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid - TCC.

good luck
