Ignition Problem??

Hello. My 91 Accord started sputtering on me all of a sudden. The engine runs fine at idle and when I rev it up but as soon as I put a load on the engine it starts sputtering on me. The sputtering seems like I have one cylinder that isn't firing. I've replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Could this be a bad igniter unit or ignition coil? Any ideas? Thanks!!

You can check if all the cylinders fire by pulling out the plug wires one by one. Normally if the cylinder is fine, when you pull the wire out, the engine will chatter badly. If you pull out the wire and the engine feels no difference, that cylinder is not firing.
Since you had replaced wires and plugs, I assume you have sparks on all plugs, the next step is to check the compression. If the compression is bad, then you will need major repairs. Good luck.

The engine has good compression and it doesn't miss at idle, just when the engine is under some type of load is when it sputters. I'm thinking it has something to do with my igniter unit going bad and not advancing the timing like it should. Also, I'd think if it was a bad ignition coil that it would cause the problem all the time.

Could be an injector that can't deliver enough fuel and that cylinder goes lean under load...
