02 sensors

does a 2001 v6 have 02 sensors behind the cats, or can i remove the cats with no problems? (i know it's illegal)

If there are o2's close to the front or rear of the cats they are placed there for the extra heat provided by the cats and the back pressure they cause. o2's need heat to work properly.

you should have an o2 after each cat, as well as the traditional ones before the cats. it'd be easy enough to look under there and see. if you do have the post cat o2 sensors and you remove the cats, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp will stay on. this will not affect driveability or performance. if you can find them, MIL eliminators can be used to keep the MIL off.

i want a pypes catless x pipe for a v6 mustang. but do they have places for the front o2 sensors to plug into? i know that the front sensors are necessary for the air/fuel mixture. and would a computer programmer get rid of the MIL problem about the second sensors?

If you want to put an off road x pipe on all you have to do is buy the mil eliminators from american muscle for like under 60 bucks, when i put my orx on my 02 gt the check engine light didnt even cut on. Plus they are very easy to install they simply plug in. The last 2 o2 sensors closest to the rear are what trip the check engine light.

A friend of mine put mil eliminators on his '98 Dodge Ram after an exhaust upgrade. The check engine light came on, he installed the mil eliminators, check engine light went off.............for a couple days. He ended up having to install an after market (Bosch I think) o2 to get his CEL to stay off.

if you know enough to make your own go ahead, but i dont think 50 or 60 bucks is alot if you want your car to perform
