The new mini cooper s makes 163 horsepower and weighs 2513 pounds that equals 0-60 in 6.9 ticks thats pretty fast but german formula in oregeon is producing a stage I kit that makes 180-225 hp a stage II that makes 250-275hp without engine mods and a stage III that makes up to 400hp with mods so thats what i call a fun car!!!
I want a stage II:D but not the Stage III :bloated: you would just kill your self with that much power in such a little car. Has anyone one els heard about this?

someone told me the same thing
that with a bunch of engine mods they could make up to 410 horses....
how funny would that be in a video...a modded mini against a Z06 in a race and the mini has 1/2 the weight and kicks their ass thatd be funny as hell
id hate to have 400 horses in a lil car like that . i mean they are saying that in a 30 mph front end crash test it did "good" which isnt the best. so at like 145 and hit something or turn quick and flip it..thatd suck
still..ill take one

They're supposedly the best handling FWD production car ever made...
Still, 2500 lbs isn't all that light. The 924 comes in at about that, stock, and has lot's of weight to lose. I personally wouldn't want to drive a FWD car with that sort of power.

That car would be dangerous. There is a M3 engined Mini that competes in the Belgian Bel-Car series that has less than that, and that is a fully worked race car.

All this stuff about the mini's not being safe is not ture! people say its too light well their are a lot of stock cars lighter than the mini, one worth mentioning is the civic Si it weights 2410lbs and you know BMW has a bettter safety system in the mini than honda has in their Si. Also the celica 2425lbs the protege 2450lbs, miata 2300lbs and their are others so the mini is not just some death box i would say its the safest in its class.
so the mini is safe just not with 400hp but come on not many cars are safe with 400hp

That's insane, watch a mini whoop a Z06!
I heard it's not nice to drive though; compared to the Vibe GT and the turbocharged Beetle it rides rough and is the noisiest of the bunch.
Oh well, you won't notive that when you're in a 'shopping cart' travelling at 160 mph!!!
:hehehe: umm, on second thought: :eek2:

I wouldn't be comfortable in any FWD car with that sort of power... in a RWD car, even if you're burning your rear tires, the front tires still give you steering input. If you've taken the time to get to know your car, and picked up a few sets of tires from the junkers ;) you should have a good shot at controlling your RWD car even while spinning the rear tires.

All that would really be good for mad ass fwd burnouts.

the beetle and vibe GT also both have higher ride heights than the mini (the GT higher than the beetle but still) and it doesnt take that much common sense...closer to the road..more noise :d

The only 400hp Mini I know of is Joe Huffaker's RWD 289 powered tube chassis special that he runs in SCCA club competition. Huffaker also builds tube chassis for competion FF Minis, as well as MG's, Morgans, Triumphs, Austin-Healeys, and Datsun 510's. Those things are sweet. I plan on getting one of his aluminum footboxes with adjustable bottom hinged pedals for Layla. Fantastic HEEL & TOE!
