Replacing Rear Speakers HELP!

Hello guys,
New to the forums, just found this place after spending a couple hours on trying to figure out how to replace the rear deck speakers in an Alero. My gf owns a 2001 Alero and we just found out that there are no rear speakers in the car. Even worse, the plastic speaker mount is missing as well!

I went to Crutchfield and they only show some 6x9 speakers compatible with the Alero. Howcome not all 6x9 speakers are compatible with the Alero? I wanted to purchase the Alpine Type-S 6x9's but it shows that they do not fit the Alero. Anybody know why?

Guess the question is, what's different from the Alpine Type S 6x9's compared to lets say the Sony GT series 6x9 speakers (that supposedly fit the Alero) ?? I'm using a JVC head unit that just got installed if that helps any.

Welcome to AF.

I havent seen any diffeances in 6x9's, they are all pretty much the same as far as size.
The rear deck speakers sit on top instead to bolting up on the inderside of the deck. You can mount them under, both my 99' GA's have Pioneer 6x9s and they fit on top or bottom.

The rear grills are mounted by plastic clips around the outside edges.
If you need, I have a few pics ....
Though I'll need to up load them to post first.

Also are you using the factory wiring for that JVC ??
