1998 4x4 blazer w/4.3l v6 with a 233 transfer case. my problem is that when i push the 4hi button i hear the TCCM click and i hear the change over in the transfer case. Same for the 4lo. i checked for vacuum at the actuator switch and there is plenty of it. i checked the cable to the differential and everything seems ok. So why doesn't my front wheels engage.. my drive shaft is spinning what am i missing here? i have read other posts what does the encoder motor look like? is it located on top of the transfer case? or is it what im hearing that engages the front drive shaft? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The TCCM and encoder are both working. The TCCM controls the encoder, the encoder shifts the transfer case. The right axle is not engaging to the differential. When 4WD is selected, the actuator under the battery pulls the cable that engages the differential clutch gear to the clutch shaft. Make sure the actuator is in fact pulling the cable. If it is, the cable may have broken, or is not attached to the shift fork in the differential, or the mechanism itself has a problem.

when i took the cable from the vacuum actuator to the differential the cable seems to be all in tact. however the shaft that goes into the differential only pulls out about 1\8 inch? is it suppose to pull out more than that? thanks for the reply!!

The cable housing shouldn't move, the cable inside the housing needs to move about one inch or so to move the fork that engages the clutch shaft with the clutch gear.
