I new to this board and I'm needing the tune-up specifications for my
1979 Trans Am with the 403CI engine and 4 barrel.
Timing
- degrees on crank w/o vacuum connected at ?? rpm
- centrifugal advance, distributor degress start at ? rpm, all in at ? rpm
- vacuum canister - degrees
Total degrees at ? rpm.
With vacuum hooked back up what should the degrees be at idle rpm?
what should the idle rpm be in drive?
Anything else I need to zone in on?
Maybe there is a section on this site that has this info, if so any help is appreciated.
Much thanks!

Lets see if I can remember back to when I owned mine (1984).
Timing is 18* BTDC at 1200 RPM in drive (brake set wheels chocked or have someone inside the car doing brakes and throttle) with vacuum advance hose removed and plugged.
Spark plug gap was .045".
Idle should be around 700 RPM in gear.

Thanks Morley
I was thinking that the timing was 18* with the vacuum hose connected to the canister. That's the way it is set now but I've got a bog so I'm going to try it your way and see if it helps.
