Hey guys i have a 97 GTP and ive heard of alot of people doing a U-Bend delete and a Resonator delete for more power, i was woundering what all is involved in doing that and how much you benefit from doin it. Any input would be awsome thanks.

It frees up air flow, more specifically exhaust.

But you may be better off with a replacement downpipe with a U-bend delete.

I never heard of a "resonator delete", since it just handles noise.

The U-bend is the piece of exhaust pipe behind the resonator that houses the O2 sensor. It creates a restriction in the exhaust that decreases power. To replace it you can either weld a straight piece of pipe from the back of the cat and weld in a bung for the O2 sensor or you can purchase a premade piece of pipe from one of the performance shops like ZZP. Take it to an exhaust shop and have them cut the U-bend off and replace it with the new piece. A resonator delete will not increase performance but it will increase noise. I suggest you leave it in place unless you like the exhaust note louder than stock.

If you don't plan on modifying your car, just keep it like it is now. You won't notice a difference unless you do other stuff.

What power increase you may get from a ubend delete has been well documented. See link below.

However, trust me it is not a mod you will feel in the seat of your pants or be able to go out and blow the doors off some ricer. Another good inexpensive mod done in conjunction with a u-bend delete is to install a hi-flow CAT convertor. You can get a hi-flow Magnaflow with either the stock 2.25" inlet/outlet or in either 2.50" or 3.0". CAT runs around $55.00.

Carry a bottle of aspirin if you decide to delete the resonator which is a common practice.
