Have a '00 XLT. 4.0 SOHC (don't know what info. you need to answer my question) Wondering where to locate the Oxygen sensors? How many are there? The truck idles way up and then down to where it will occasionally stall. The gas mileage sucks and the check engine light has been on for an eternity now. Please help. Thank you

On your 2000 there will be one in each exhaust bank before the catalytic converter and, if there is only one catalytic converter before the y-pipe, there will be one after the converter. If you have two converters, there will be one after each converter.
Have you had the codes scanned to see what they indicate the problem is? While oxygen sensors are a maintenance item, it may not solve your particular concern in this case.
Most auto parts stores offer a service to read the OBD-2 diagnostic codes at no charge to you. Get the code number and post back here the exact code (should be in the form P1234 where 1234 will be some sequence of numbers) if you're unsure of the cause.
You poor mileage and code could be as simple as a broken vacuum line, loose air intake tube connection, or engine coolant temperature sensor. Any of these would be less expensive than replacing three or four oxygen sensors.

Thank you, I will see about taking the truck to Auto Zone to see about getting the diagnostic codes on it. I'll post back then.
