1988 park ave. engine light on

Hello, I have an 88 park ave. Recently the check engine light has started to come on after driving for 5-10 minutes. sometimes it will stay on and sometimes it will go off for a while then come back on. I have read some of the other posts to check the codes . Where do i find the connector to check the codes? The car runs fine. Thanks

thanks, no I do not have a scanner, can i use the "paperclip" method? do i need to remove any panels under the dash?
