How many of you have valvetrain noise during a cold startup. I have 92000 miles on my cav and I use synthetic blend oil...have not problem when it is warm it is just anoying.

completely normal. I had it too when i ran my cav back in the winter like 3.5 years ago. It only had 35k miles on it then. Just all the oil sinks back to the pan from the head and due to the cold it makes everything soo think, it just takes a little bit for the oil to regain its viscosity and lube everything up real well. You should let your car idle for 30-45 seconds after start up before you start to drive it in order to make sure oil is up in the head.
but once again, its perfectly normal. You should hear an older Vee Dub start up when its cold...

my 2200 with 125,000 miles on it just started doing it this winter, at least bad enough to be noticed, now i dont move that car until the engine idles for AT LEAST 1-2 minutes when its cold out,

its funny you ask this question. I was just looking up the TSB's for our cars and its the exhaust making the noise. you can get a resonator put in to stop it during cold starts, or you can just ignore it.

well in my case, i can guarantee you this has nothing to do with the exhaust
