dies in reverse

1997 1500 4x4 automatic.
dies as soon as you shift to reverse. does not bog engine down simply just kills it. like shutting off key. even tries transfer case in N. still kills it. Any ideas?

I've been having the same issue with my '01 1500 5.9L, posted it on here a while back. Believe I had a throttle body service done a while back that seems to have helped, but I'd have to look up in my maintenance records to be sure. Not sure if that's what helped it or not though.
