92 towncar hard shift out of o/d

i have a 92 town car 4.6l with the AOD transmission. it shifts real hard out of overdrive into a lower gear. it really slams right into gear. changed all the fluid, drained the torque converter too. new filter. still does the same thing. no difference. am i looking into having to put a tranny in it, or are there any adjustments on it like shift patterns and such

Some one down the line might have put a shift kit into it. My cousin had a
6 cylinder pick up that would snap your neck between gears, because of a shift kit. Try replacing your vac. modulator might improve shifting. I think 92 still has the trans with the vac. modulator. :2cents:
