98 4runner spare tire

We just got a 98 4runner, can someone please tell me how to remove the spare tire from under the car?

If it's like the 1st and 2nd gen Runners, you insert the hand crank thru a slot under the license plate, into the winch, and turn.

For your vehicle, you lift the tailgate and there is a hole through which you insert the crank. Turning one way lowers the tire and the other way raises the tire.
