So, as of now I have a 2001 Grand Am (hate it.) but am looking to buy an Eclipse Spyder in the near future, but am completely clueless about a cars worth. The car I'm currently looking at is a 2003 Spyder, 36k miles, titanium pearl color, 4 cylinder, auto and they're asking $12,900 for it..but the only things wrong with it that I noticed was there is a stain on the passenger seat (which really isn't a big deal to me), and there is a crack in the dashboard (from the top of the passenger airbag to the windshield). The car dealer told me it was from being a Florida car in the heat and that it wouldn't cause any damage or problems later on...
Aaaaanyway, I guess what I'm getting at, is is that a good price for that car, as well as any information about the dashboard dilemma. Thanks for any help!!!

Certainly without seeing it, it's almost impossible to tell if it's a true statement, however many vehicles from the sun belt states (and others) have similar problems with the dashboards and airbag covers. On those I have seen personally, it is purely cosmetic and if the airbag light illuminates for 6 seconds and then goes out, they system should be fine.

Seems a tad bit high in price I think... Did you run Kelly Blue Book value on the car to see how close the price was? I would do that for a better idea. But to me it seems a bit high for a car that is already 5 years old. Even though the mileage it a little bit lower than the average should be for that year of car.

An excellent condition one in Omaha Nebraska, according to KBB, should retail around 14,300 (which I would not pay that). Yours is not in A+ condition, so perhaps the 12,900 is around what KBB would say it should go for...I would say 12,000 flat and see if you could split on 12,350 or something. Back in 2004 I bought my 2000 Eclipse GT fully loaded for 12,500 (5 speed, leather, 6 disk, sunroof...the works for a 2000 model (there was no GTS in 2000)), so to me the 12,900 seams a little high, although I do know the spyders were a little more than the coupes. Hope that helped a little.
