Door mounting

My friend has a 93 Cherokee (two door). He was out (in a parking lot) and about and he opened the drivers side door which was hit by a passing motorist. The door was not tore off but bent the hinge mounts.

We fixed the door except for the upper hinge mount will not stay attached to the door body. We tried welding and it held for a week and came loose again.

Heres my question. Do we have to reinforce the the back side of the body to keep the mount attached. Or is there a different way to repair? As you can tell I don't do much body work, just the mechanical.

Jeep also makes the "repair kit" that has a piece of metal that rivets on the inside of the jamb and bolts into the door hinge but that's more for if the hinge is cracking not completely ripped off. And are you having trouble with it staying attached to the door or to the body? If it's the door then drill the holes out some and you could use grade 8 bolts and nuts to attach it to the door.

Not to drag off subject... but the hinges on my '94 Cherokee are cracking. Where can I find that 'Repair Kit'?

There's the site that shows the two different kit part numbers and how the repair is done when the crack is only slight and there's no access to a welder.
