ABS Light and brake light with Dinging Sound

I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 5.7L V8, and recently (about a week ago) it started turning on the ABS and brake light. Sometimes one will come one alone (they vary between themselves) or sometimes both will come on together. The whole time i'm driving, all I hear is the dinging sound because as soon as the lights blink on, the dinging starts. I searched the threads on here for something similar, but still haven't seen anything related. Has anyone experienced this problem before, and if so, can you tell me how you fixed it? My truck has 54,000 Miles on it. I haven't had any other problems since I got it (@ 38,000 miles) It's bugging me. Oh, and the brakes work fine all the time.

I have had the same problem. Except mine started with the ABS light and the Seatbelt light, and then eventually changed to the Highbeam light and the Cruise control light. They eventually went away. Sorry I cant help. I feel your pain!

I have similar problem. I have 2006 silverado 1500 LT V8 Ext Cab. Bought new 02/06. Since new about every 3 months the brake and ABS lights on dash come on briefly. I will be driving along and hear 1 or 2 chimes and when I look at dash the brake and ABS lights are just going off. When it first happend it took while to figure out which lights were on. They are on very short time. When I hear chime by time I look at dash they are going off. Told dealer in 08/06 they said there was nothing in computer and they would have to see it happen. When in for service 10/07 told dealer about it again. It happened on labor day weekend 07. They said there was a bulliten about a bad ground. They cleaned and reatached a ground said that should solve problem. I was driving on 12/20/07 when I heard 3 chimes looked at dash, brake and ABS light were on and went right off. Truck runs great and brakes seem fine.

They saved me about $1500 over what the dealer wanted...they rebuilt my EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) and sold me an ABS pump. My EBCM recently malfunctioned and they fixed it ASAP under their warranty. Basically you have three components to the ABS system...pump, EBCM and sensors. Chevy had a recall that called for having the sensors tested and replaced. You can do a search on this forum and read all about the problems this system has.

I have a 2000 silverado that was under a recall for an ABS wheel sensor problem, I took it in to have it corrected. And within 24hrs my brake & ABS lights came on.
The service manager at my local dealership was a jack ass about the whole thing.
Insisting that the lights that came on had nothing to do with the work they performed. He said the ABS pump was BAD, And for 550.00 plus labor, They could replace it. Well needless to say they still don't work.
The brakes work fine, Even without ABS. I am not the type to leave my truck in disrepair, If there is something wrong with it, I have it fixed. BUt @
550.00 for parts/90.00$ an hr labor @1.75 hrs to fix, For what I still think was there fault. I can live with it. And dont get me started on the whole piston slap thing. That started @ 13000 miles

That's kinda what happened not to long ago to me...I had an ABS and brake light on so I took it to the dealer to check for codes. After he checked it the ABS pump was on all of the time. I pulled the ABS fuse and the pump stopped and brake light went out. I couldn't get the bolts out of the EBCM so I had to take it to a shop nearby and they took out the pump with EBCM on it and in removing the bolts two broke :-( Note to self...stainless steel bolts will seize if tightened into aluminum without some kind of anti-seizing dope.
Now I had a EBCM that needed to go back to be rebuilt again plus I had to buy a rebuilt pump while my truck sat at the shop. The EBCM was under warranty and the pump was $125 from Module Masters. They were super and turned the EBCM and replacement pump around in one day.
