I have an 06 Taurus. I have noticed the defroster does not dry the windshield, leaving a large fog ride in my sield of view. Does anyone know of similar problems?

Depending on the outside air temp, the a\c compressor should come on with the defrost, clearing the condensation..Otherwise it does take longer if really cold outside, no compressor operation, and the windows fog up

Or, if you have a leaky heater core, it will create a film on your windshield during heated defrost that may seem like a fog. Does the air flowing out of the defroster smell sweet?
If there's not sweet smell and you are sure it is just moisture and not coolant, you may want to make sure the evaporator housing drain is not plugged. The drain should exit outside the car through the firewall.

This might be a dumb question. When is the last time you cleaned the window? I only ask because mine did that also, no sweet smell from the defrost that rod is talking about, check for that though. I cleaned it and all was good.
edit: check everything that everyone else mentioned.

I had actually taken it to the delaer last season when I got the car and they also said - clean the windshield? DUH! Didn't make any difference. And there is no anti-freeze smell - it gets very frustrating when I can get into my wife van (04 Gr. Caravan)and it clears the window in seconds and mine doesn't. I did notice the compressor runs very infrequently - as opposed to my wife van that runs the same frequency as when the AC is on in the summer. Could this be a 134 level problem? The AC is Ice cold in the summer? Thanks for the replies.

hence why I said "this might be a dumb question" . I don't know much on the enviroment control of a car other than that though.
