Im looking into buying a set of civic type r cams (intake and exhaust). How can i tell if the cams are genuine type r cams or not just by looking at them? also, if i do buy them could i run them on my stock valvetrain (99 civic si b16a2) if i dont up the rev limiter cause all i have on my car is greddy exhaust and an aem intake. thx guys.

You can tell for sure if it's a JDM B16B CTR intake cam by looking on the end of the camshaft that hooks onto the distributor. There will be 2 rings on that end of the camshaft. I believe that the exhaust cam has one ring on the end close to the VTEC solenoid (the ITR and CTR exhaust cams are identical). as long as you dont up your revlimiter, you should be fine. My friend put CTR cams in his internally stock otherwise B16A with no problems. I would recommend dyno tuning....and upping your VTEC x-over to 5500-6000 rpms...whatever is best according to the dyno. hope that helped :)
