So I have another random question for you guys. My buddy and I were talking the other day and we decided sometime (probably after college) we would like to get into some sort of flying. I've always wanted to fly, pretty much since I can remember. If I make it big and have way too much money I will eventually get a helicopter, but until then I have a budget.

Being that we're looking for something cheap to learn, cheap to own, and not overly spectacular, we were talking about powered parachutes and powered paragliders. We agreed that if we ended up with something like that we would want something slow.... afterall it would just be something scenic/fun to do.

I think we'd end up going with a powered paraglider over the powered parachute. The paragliders are basically strapping yourself to a motor with a prop and attached to a parachute where the other one is like a 3 wheeled gokart looking thing with a big fan on the back and the parachute. The paragliders are easier to control, cheaper, and easier to transport... plus its got to be bad ass as hell to be flying and having nothing below your feet.

So has anyone ever done this before?

i don't think you need a piolets license butt if you were giong for plane you do... costs about 10,000 here to do so with training and flight experiance.

^ Yeah, the parachutes dont need licenses... another huge reason that we are thinking about taking that route.

Ha ha, I have the Talon when I want to go fast there Mike ;). Yeah, I think they go between 15-45 depending on wind and all that, I think 25-35 is normal air speed. You know what though? Its not about getting places fast, its about just getting there. I think it would be just fun as hell to go out for a day and fly over shit. I should totally go to work via powered paraglider one day.... just walk in with a big ass fan and a parachute strapped to your back :p.

Build one of those flyers that looks like a goose and lead some geese that you hatch, raise and become their mother, and bring them down south.

Nope, I would rather just eat them. Or throw them at traffic off an overpass, your pick. :p

You could throw them into the blades of your prop plane.
