Engine year??

Is there a way to know the year of a engine?

I know it comes from a E-DA6 and it's a b16a, cable clutch.

But I know there were 160 and 170 versions of that engine for the Integra XSI.

That engine is a 1 million series B16A. It was made between 89 and 91. There wasn't a 170hp JDM B16A until 92. There were JDM B16As that made between 150-155hp...and they were found in the automatic XSi tegs. the DA6 was only made until 91. I believe there is a stamp somewhere on the front of the head that says the year.......but that's unconfirmed....hope that helped :)

Take the heat shield of the exhaust, it should have a year stamped on the head, also they made a 5 million series 1st Gen out of the Integra with 170 HP, the 1 million series are CRX 160HP.

I agree with you about the year being stamped on the head, behind the exhaust manifold shield........however, you are incorrect about the rest that you said.
1 Million series JDM B16A (first gen) motors come from the 89-91 Integra XSi & RSi

5 Million series JDM B16A (first gen) motors come from the 90-91 CR-X SiR and Civic SiR (EF8 & EF9, respectively)

there was never a JDM B16A with 170hp until 92, when the SiRII motor came out.
Trust me, my first B16 was a 5 million series, and my current one is a 1 million series. I purchased the longblock from hondamotorsonline, and a flex plate was mounted on the block where the flywheel normally is. This told me that it came off of an automatic Integra XSi or RSi. The 90-91 SiR (Civic or CR-X) was never available in automatic, it was only available in 5 speed. If you still don't believe me, PM Setanta or Moppie and ask them to read you the first number off of their serial number. I guarantee that both of them will start with a 5 because both of them own a 90-91 Civic SiR. thanx for reading :)
