Check Engine Light doesn't work

Just purchased with 60K. Tried to smog. Emmissions passed.
However, P1406 error, EGR Valve, thanks automotive forums. I'll remove and check if it is sticking.
The second which I can't seem find anywhere, the check engine light won't come on when the car starts. Fuse or someother issue that I don't want to know about.

Welcome to AF!!
First thing to check is to see if the bulb is good. Sometimes people get annoyed with the light and just remove the bulb rather than fix the issue. It is also possible that the code was stored in the computer but the issue had been fixed but they didn't clear the code. Not everything will cause the light to illuminate especially if it is intermittant.
