97 Blazer low rumbling sound

Feb 2, 2007 I was rear ended while stopped at an intersection. The collision did not cause the air bags to release but was hard enough to push me into the intersection that resulted in a $1800 dollars repair job on the the bumper and liftgate. The other vehicle was a dually Dodge Ram Truck! Several months later a low rumbling sound from the rearend became noticeable and todate seems even louder. The sound is similar to unbalanced bad tires a rythmic (...rumm...rumm..rumm) that speeds up when accelerating. It's noticeable clear to 60 mph and by 65 it sounds like one constant humm. The vibration is slightly noticeable at high speeds as well...can anyone give me suggestions to the possible problem? Can it be linked to the accident? The insurance adjuster told me to find a certified mechanic who attest the problem being connected to the accident and they will pay for it But where should I go...a dealer? To make my situation worse, I'm looking at a long drive from CA to TX in about 2 weeks and I really need to get this looked at...any suggestions? Thanks ahead

Just got the call from Sears; their opinion is the differential bearing. They got this from having someone sit in the back while another drives listening for the location of the sound. Transmission shop is their recommendation. Looks like I'm going shopping...maybe for another Blazer? Not!

You realy need to find a good repair shop.Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.

A 60-65 mile viberation or shake points tire or wheel balance.


The rear end would not wait 6 mo to go out if any damage from collision.
