Evap Leak

My engine light recently turned on, so i checked the code and it said that i have a small evap leak. I heard that the most common problem is caused by the gas cap, so i replaced the gas cap and erased the old engine code and the code came up again within a day. I know where the evap lines are and where the evap vapor canister is located but what i don't know is where the " small leak " is located. Is there any kind of tricks or tools that are avaliable to help locate this kind of problem? Any suggestions are appreciated.

What is your suggestion on where to buy a decent smoke maching that isin't going to cost me an arm and a leg? I have already checked local auto stores as well as a few online stores and if they can get it, it will cost around $1,000 doesn't sound right to me. Let me know, thanks.

They can cost alot more then a $1000. Try your luck on Ebay if you really want one. If you only work on your own cars it might be cheaper to take it to someone that has one. A smoke machine might have a hard time paying for itself if its only used at home.

I agree with reekor on this. A shop will charge you an hour or less to diagnose for you. That is a lot cheaper than purchasing a machine.
