I test drove a Z the other day and the ride was very rough. The ride was so bad it gave me a head-ache. Is this typical of the Z or way something wrong with the Z I drove?

I posted this on another very popular Z forum and it was erased!!!!!

The test drove that I took felt really smooth to me. I haven't gotten mine yet, so I can't really speak about it in detail. Was the road well maintained that you drove on?

Have you ever driven a sports car before? Stiff suspension is what it's all about, otherwise you're driving a Grand Am or some crap like that. I'm amazed you think the Z is rough, it's got very cool suspension, feels nice and stiff without that "ass dragging in the gravel" kind of feeling of say a corvette.

I think the ride is firm but not harsh. This is what you need for those hairpin turns and twisty mountain driving. However my wife thinks it's a bit too stiff. So now what I do if she's going somewhere with me we drive my 97 Eclipse. And when i'm by myself I drive the Z!!!

yep, the Z's suspension is stiff, but that's how it should be :) If it gave you a headache then this car is not for you.

The Z rough? You should of felt the suspension in my GMC Sierra when I lowered it. It's like ridin a horse. The Z is a big step up for me.

Dosn't sound right to me. But I traded my S2000 for a Z because I thought the Z was a much smoother ride. Compaired to my S2K, the Z is like riding on a cloud. That was a car that could beat the heck out of you, while making your ears ring at sustained high RPMS.

But seriously, if you think the Z is a rough ride, why not get a Camero or Mustang, their not rough, but they don't handle as well either.

I agree with you but, any sports car will ride rough at lower speeds. You need stiffer springs to handle at elevated speeds. The 350Z smooths right out @ around the century mark.

It sure does, and even manages to hold the road pretty good around the 160M mark. Happy motering!!!

humm the new Z rough...???haha I dont think so..well from what I know the New Z has way better rating then the s2000. don't think I would trade in my Z for anything.

I drove two 350Z's today, one with the 18-inch wheels (Performance model) and one with the 17-inch wheels (Enthusiast model).

The "Performance model" Z with the 18-inch wheels was noticeably rougher-riding than the Enthusiast model. Much rougher than the C5 Corvette, or the S2000, in my opinion. (I have driven each of those in the past 48 hours as well)

I bought the Z with the 17-inch wheels (the Enthusiast model).

Cheers,
Kent
