Im having trouble with a transmission i just had re-built and put in my Explorer. Its a 95, and the o/d off light was blinking on the dash a couple of weeks ago. I need a Manual Lever Position sensor replaced and I don't even know where it is exactly ? Anybody Who knows, and how hard these are to replace?

They are fairly easy to replace. It is located on the side of the transmission where the linkage hooks up. Remove the linkage, remove the wiring, and remove 2 little mounting bolts. To install, be sure truck is in neutral. Look at the new switch and you will see 2 lines. These need to be exactly lined up on installation. Put switch over the selector shaft, install bolts(don't tighten yet), make sure the 2 marks previously found lines up. Tighten the bolts, install wiring, install shift linkage. make sure vehicle starts in Park and Neutral only. Takes about 15 minutes to change. Most parts stores will have the part. There are 2 different ones for your truck, be sure you get the right one.

Thanks for replying pretty fast. Im not the mechanic type so bare with me. When I crawl under the car, with the car in neutral the e-brake should be on right? Then what do I look for exactly? I dont know what the linkage looks like or where to begin. Thanks a lot!!! Drew

Yes you should have the emergency brake on for safety reasons, also jack the vehicle up and support it with jack stands. The sensor is located on the drivers side of the transmission. It sholud be really close to being under the drivers seat. Look for a cable going to a lever on the side of the transmission. That is the shifter cable. The MLP is the device behind that. Click here and there are instructions as how to replace it. (http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/0b/ac/f4/0900823d800bacf4/repairInfoPages.htm) It also has a drawing of what it looks like.
