Dead Transmission

First off, I have a 01 GT with 87k miles. The car had been shifting a little bit rough sometimes for a couple of months, and then while i was driving home over the weekend it started holding gears way too long, then missing them altogether. It started doing all sorts of crazy stuff, slamming into gear and shuddering from a stop. I knew something was wrong so i took it to the local dealership where they said these scan codes came up; P0128, P0141, P0172, P0741, P0742, P0757, P1811. So i guess only 4 of these are for the transmission, but could someone please interpret. The mechanic said the main input bearing was bad and that this is a common problem for 01's. Any useful advice about where to get it repaired and how much it should cost is much appreciated.

Emissions/engine related codes:

P0128- ECT below thermostat regulating temperature (indicates possibly stuck open t-stat causing the car to run too cool.
P0141- o2 sensor heater circuit malfunction, post cat sensor (bad heater or wiring to it in the post cat oxygen sensor)
P0172-system too rich (probably caused by the bad o2)


Trans related codes:

P0741-Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off
P0742-Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Stuck On
P0757-Shift Solenoid B Stuck On
P1811-Maximum Adapt and Long Shift

All of the trans codes could be cause by dirty fluid, clogged/neglected trans filter, and/or sticking valves in the trans.

This is going to sound stupid, however, you may not have a transmission problem. The engine control module(ECM) uses information form those 3 sensors to shift and engage the transmission. If these sensors aren’t operating properly the ECM will send those same default codes and lock the transmission out. Simply replacing those sending units may cure your tranny problems.

What exactly are you talking about? So the tranny will "lock out" and PCM send those same "default codes"??? I don't agree with that assumption.

Based on the P1811 DTC looks like a bad pressure control solenoid (PCS) for part of the tranny related problems.
