What would you do?

So I have a 2001 Exploer Sport 4.0L V6 . It has 114,000 miles on it, and it runs like a champ. I know that water pumps and head gaskets usually go around 100,000 miles. Do you think I should pay the high cost of having these relaced before they go out? What other routine maintenance should I perform. I recently replaced the Serpentine belt, alternator, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, and air filter. I tried changing the pcv valve but it was too hard to get to. As I found out in another thread the, I have a timing chain, so there should be no need to change that, right?

You could check the maintenance manual to see what all the manufacturer suggests. I would hope that atleast it would include, in addition to what you've already performed, a brake fluid flush, cooling system coolant refresh, transmission fluid and filter, and fluid replacement for the transfer case and front and rear differentials.
As for the head gaskets and water pump, if the pump isn't making noise or leaking and the engine doesn't overheat, I'm not sure I'd replace that or the head gaskets just because. The water pump will give you warning signs before it fails completely and leaves you stranded.

I didn't even think about the transmission and filter. Good info. Thanks.
