I have an '02 grand prix GT. I have replaced the the blower motor resistor and hve pulled the dash apart to check wiring going to the control knob. Also have check all of the fuses and they are all fine. Just checking to see if there is something that I am over looking or if it could just be a bad part.
Thanks
Brian

The title has been corrected for grammar. Resinator to Resistor.

The original problems were that the fan speed 1-4 would not work but speed 5 did work. I thought that it was blower motor and tried replacing that and nothing worked, might have touch wires together when key was on and fan control position was a 5 setting. Then I replaced the resistor and now speeds 1-4 work but speed 5 does not.

There is a fuse for the hi-speed fan position 5 so check that first to make sure it is not blown.

I have already checked the fuse and the mini relay that goes for fan speed 5. Please let me know if it could be in the control knob or if you think the resistor could be bad.

Unless someone has screwed with the factory wiring somewhere sometime the resistors are always the culprit.Pull the carpet back away on the passenger side get out your 7mm with extention and take out the 3 screws last one in the back is a pain but. When you get it out it will look like a credit card and you will see the burnt parts.Sure fix I have replaced 12 or more.
Thanks

borninabarn, he already replaced the resistor (see first post).
That being said, it doesn't mean that the new one he bought couldn't have a bad hi-speed relay. It's remotely possible that the heater control switch is bad, but not as likely. If you inspected the wiring to the control head for charred/burnt contacts and there were none, I would suspect a bad new part.
