wut the heck :)
anyways...
whats the difference between the new 2002 and the 2001? are the new decals + driver figures enough to warrant 400yen price increase?

There is good and bad news with Tamiya's new Evo 2 206.
The good news is the body shell is spot on. Appears to be a complete retooling, even the old details look crisper than the body in the 1999 through 2001 kits. They also get lots of other details like the rear brake discs and exhaust tip right.
Bad news is inside, here the Big T hasn't made a convincing effort. The interior is still exactly the same as the 2001 car. So the rollcage and dash are wrong as are more subtle changes like the fuel tank - and the instructions still tell you to put the spare wheel in the wrong place!
Other good bits are the inclusion of two different 18-inch wheel types. The familiar 5-spoke OZ wheels as well as the 16-spoke ones seen on several stages this year. ALso included is the extra head protection the Panizzi brothers use on their seats.
All in all though the good far outweighs the bad bits - which only a pedantic old so-and-so like me would care about anyway :p
Now thinking about conversion to Evo 3 and Marlboro livery!!!

Good and detailed explanation, Phil ... although the topic in question is the Impreza WRC, not the 206 WRC :p :silly:

No worries, Pug is my favourite car of the current lineup anyway... have you seen the AF rally forum. It's close to the F1 forum that you can see in my sig, and it's really quiet :(

Yeah - I checked it out - it is D.E.A.D. :(
I often frequent another WRC forum that goes off during the events.

Must appologise Djmr2 for screwing up you thread!
I don't have the new 2002 Subaru kit - somebody out there must.
Don't expect there would be any difference in the plastic from the 2001 Monte kit. Think you'd be right and the difference in price would boil down to the figures and updated decals.
Would probably be worth it if they get the decals for Solberg's helmet done right. That is one groovy helmet design with the tattered Norwegian flag across the top.
Phil (who has removed his blinkers for the moment)

I would imagine they changed the lights, front valance and a few other things that were different between the 2001 and 2002 cars.
Could you find photos of the kits on Tamiya's site and do a visual comparison?
The 2002 is not freely available here yet.
