2007 SVM Power locks help

My parents are going to get power locks installed in my aveo for me for christmas. However there is currently no power running to the doors at all, seeing as it is an SVM. At bestbuy, they said they would charge 90$ per door to run power to it, plus around 300 for the locks etc. Is this a decent price?? Will I get ripped off at best buy? should I go to a local mechanic to have this done, what will it cost, will i save money etc? I am seriously lost and I just dont want to have my parents throw away a bunch of money only to find out i could have had this done cheaper someplace else. Any help on this AT ALL would be greatly appreciate. Post anything you know about having power locks installed at all. Thanks!!

There is a company (can tell you name if you PM me...against board rules to post links, I think) that sells the kits for about $150. Make a few calls to local mechanics. I think it would be fairly simple to install yourself, plus the joy of doing MODS yourself...priceless.


OPPS... I can't read, I thought you said power windows..... power locks even cheaper and probably easier. This particular website has them for $40 for 2 door cars and $50 for 4 door cars. That is even better, huh??

Dont bother with the power locks. Its just a waste of money really. Leave your doors unlocked. Nobody really cares what you have in an aveo. If a thief wants to steal your car or whats inside he will get in regardless of whether its locked or not. Put the money towards new tires or better yet - a nicer exhaust.

agreed. its not worth it, if it didnt come with ur car then oh well, its just an aveo and u just cant leave anything in ur car. if u got insurance then dont worry.
