My '98 GP GT has some of the poorest headlights I have ever seen. I drive late night daily. I have upgraded the bulbs and made little change. It seems like they jst don't throw out a good beam. Is there any fix to this?

Welcome to AF!

I will assume that your lights are aimed properly.

Check this link out from our tips and maintenance subforum on how to get the lenses clear again if yours are cloudy from age, as this will help immensley in getting better lighting.

What brand of lights are you using? im currently using silverstar ultras, and it made a big difference from the orignal lights i had.

They are Sylvania but beyond that I'm not sure. They are just one step up from stock. I was afraid that if I go too hot they would melt hte lens. What year do you have?

Don't buy the "blue" lights, as they're not worth a turd. The Sylvania Silverstars aren't any higher wattage so there's no risk of damaging/melting anything by using them, they are made of a more efficient wire element/gas combo that outputs more light. Also look at the reflectors in the lenses to see if the mirror-like silver coating has flaked off or has turned dull. If that is the case, you'll need top buy new lamp housings.

The bulb has no other markings beyond the brand name and #. DO you know what the #'s designate? The lens appears to be OK. The reflective backing looks good. I may make a trip to the parts store and pickup some brighter bulbs. Thank you for the info. I will update when I get the new bulbs.
