So I've been looking into getting some of those halogen headlights. Is this something that would be good to get, or should I stick with the traditional ones? I figure if I get the halogen one's I can do my best to blind other people in my little car like they continually do to me. And they would be brighter than the one's that are on there now so I could keep a better eye out for those darn animals that always dart out ahead of the car. Also how long should it be before you change out the whole headlamp assembly?

Should have halogens from the factory. What kind of Metro do you have, what year, and are the headlights flush with the bodywork or recessed? Some require a sealed beam, some just a bulb. mk2 and 3 cars had headlight wiring problems, I've had 100/80 bulbs in my mk5 for 100K miles with no trouble, but the wiring seems the same. As with most things, subtlety is the key. A slight increase in power should be no problem, if you go extreme as I did, keep a very close eye on the wiring behind the inside fusebox, or bypass the wiring with relays and a direct supply from the battery. Rewiring with relays will increase the brightness of even the stock bulbs.
