1995 Silverado w/226 k on the clock and a growing wet spot under my pass.side front floor mat.---Can someone hook me up with some detailed Heater Core R&R instructions. My Chilton seems to have missed a few steps because I can't get my core out the box. Also please include how to change the blower control switch because my freaking blower does not work either.

All we usually get for heater cores is something like "remove access cover/housing and mounting bolts/nuts to access heater core, WARNING: BE SURE TO..., CAUTION: NEVER..., installation is reverse of removal, be sure to fill cooling system with a 50/50 blend of anti-freeze and water to prevent freezing and corrosion" Mostly worthless :)

Yes, that's pretty much what my Chilton said and I followed their brief step by step instructions and it still won't budge. I printed Auto Zones instructions and it's a bit more detailed so I'll see if they are any better this weekend .

I finally got it out and I actually only had to do half the steps the Auto Zone instructions called for. The little screws on the back of the heater core case housing was the hardest to reach because my hands and fingers are rather large but I still managed to get them out. The core did have a few rust spots on the seam so hopefully that's where the leaks are. If you own a 95 C-1500 you can pretty much remove & install the heater core by just removing the lower case lid screws and carefully lowering the cover lid. After putting it all back togeather I found out that my blower only came on when turned to the high position so I replaced the switch. Now everything works perfect and the passenger side carpet is nice and dry.
thanks for all the great help guys.
