strut question

well this past week i decided that i wanted to lower my car so i just cut the springs because i wanted a lower drop than the eibachs, the drop looks really really good and im very satisfied, but i do know that cutting the springs is not the right way to do it but the ride isn't too bad, the front does bounce a little bit but my struts are blown, so i was wondering if i replace the struts would it help out to stop the bouncing since the bounce isn't excessive with blown struts??

Unless you know exactly what you're doing, cutting springs is not smart. The fact that your struts are bad is probably because you cut the springs.

Do yourself a favor, get some new KYB's and a set of Intrax springs. It's not too expensive and it will save you a lot of BS. I'm not sure how low you want to go, but the Intrax set up looks very nice.

no my struts were out before i lowered it, and i got them cut by someone who knew what they were doing...and i was aiming for a 2 inch drop which is what i have now... the bouncing isn't excessive but it's not confortable either but that's one of the sacrifices made when lowering a vehicle isn't it? and also i have read that even with the intrax spring the ride still bounces a little bit even with good struts, is that true?? and which struts would work better, the Kyb gr-2's, or the bilstein??

Cutting the springs is the worst thing you can do and will lead to QUICKLY blown struts.

well i do know it will cause premature wear on the struts, but what i was going to do is just buy struts with lifetime warranty so every time they go out, i will just switch them again lol:grinyes: ... i have become a pro at changing them too, i removed both the front and rear struts, and put them back in all in around an hour and a half. that's including jacking up and removing the wheels:smokin:

And hour and a half? Ha, I had my old struts out and coilovers in in about 45 minutes. And I had never had my rear struts out before so I wasnt 100% sure how they came out. ;)

Bottom line here, you shouldn't take short cuts. Sounds like a new set of struts every time the springs cause wear on them would be an awful lot of work. I would just get KYB GR-2, they're good struts and stock at that.

The kyb's i quoted you have lifetime warrenty but if there was a problem you would have to ship them back and pay to ship the new ones out there.. I am thinking 40 bucks bolth ways if that...
