So.. I have two MA Audio HK12X2's. Im thinkin about for my amplifier.. MA Audio HK4000D. Its a mono amp. So, my question is, can I run 4000 watts to each of my HK12's off one HK4000D?

no.

i wouldnt run 4000w to that sub even if you wanted to, the RMS is 1500.. it probably wont even hold a clean 1500w rms let alone 4000

ive read up on the subs, other owners of the subwoofers said they have ran 4000 to each sub and had no problems..

I Tried looking these subs up and didnt find anything. But seeing that it is 2 12" your prob looking at around 1500 watts. So depending on there RMS (which if you could find that and post it that would be great) Id either go with one of these 2 Hiphonics amps: The 1606D Brutus amp or the 2006D Brutus amp (which may be too much power) But they put out less power then is listed but the 1606D= 1600 watts 2006D= 2000 watts.

Yeah but are you sure the amp is really capable of 4000 watts? Still, my goodness, 4000 watts for each sub is a ridiculously huge amount of power. I assume your ride is built for this?

just because one guy says he put 4kw to a sub doesn't mean you should. go with what the manufacturer recommends. they built the darn things.

lol theres guys on online car audio say they hit 170db off of legacy subs too.. do you beleive them too?

MA subs will blow even if you put recommended RMS on them, i've seen it happen alot.

besides.. what kind of electrical do you have to support 8krms?

...Like the title of this forum says... its my FIRST system... I know a little bit about systems. Ive read up on some of the basics, some of it sticks and some doesnt (as in I do not understand). So throwing the book out and starting from scratch.. What do YALL recomend? As in AMP, Wiring, Capacitors (if any), box square footage/design. I dont know very much, yall are pretty much "professionals" in my eyes, so Ill trust your opinion/input. But when it comes down to it, I just want a reliable, hard hitting, high dB rating system. Basically, just a badass system.

people that run 4000 watts to that sub are playing it for like 3 second burps, I'm sure it can handle that - it will not handle 4k watts all day, and neither will the electrical system.

Whats your budget? hopefully not under 1k

I say you put like around 2000-2500 watts and up to each sub like I said (actually i wasnt sure that I typed in that you need 2 of those amps but I ment to) But 4000 watts to one sub and you are going to have 2 of them! My gosh you would need to have the freaking Hoover Dam and like 30 batteries just to power it. And in your first post (I might have just read it wrong or you may already know this and I sound like a moron) But it said "can I run 4000 watts to each of my HK12's off one HK4000D?" You would have to have 2 of those amps to run 4000 watts to each sub, because if one amp is rated at 4000 and you spilt the power between 2 subs that = 2000 watts each. But I think you should get that amp if its any good and split it between the subs wired parallel that should be plenty of power, or you could just get 2 amps rated at 2000 watts. And I agree with pre98zetec I certainly hope your not expecting to do this with limited money cuz this is going to cost a bit.

well, i can get the amplifer for 450. i already have have that money. and im planing on getting a larger alternator or 2 more batteries for about 150. as in for the wiring, i dont know how much ill need for that, or what type of wiring i need. and if i need capacitors, than ill get them too. im thinkin of spendin a grand for amp/alternator(or more battieries)/capactior/wiring. cause i already bought the 2 subs.

Yes you will definatly need an alternator because I am going to have to have one with just 2000 watts. Wiring wont cost you that much but have you put thought into what box your going to buy, or make. And if you get just one of those amps you would be fine and you could definatly get all that stuff for under one grand. But the alt will cost you a bit to get a good one unless you just add one on to the one that you already have and you will need another battery for sure. And do you know if you are going to make a custom box or get it done profesionaly?

i dont know about the box. im not sure if it should be sealed or ported. or what type of deminsions i need. and i also dont know if i should get some capacitors, and what farads they whould be rated at. im thinking about buying all the supplies.. and the having the box built. and having it all professionally installed. cause right now im in the middle of a crossroad. A) it goes in my 95 mustang or B) it goes in teh 2002 volvo s60 i might be getting. and with the mustang, i got the aftermarket headunit. but with the s60, to put in a head unit, i need it custom done, because the center console is wierd... heres a picture.

MA is way over rated, most of there amps are rated at like 17volts.... so you will not see near 4k out of that amp unless you are running a 16volt setup which would cost you more then that amp is worth. You should look for an amp that puts out a TRUE amount of power. Look at companies such as hifonics, autoteck, crunch, mtx, rockford fosgate, american bass, stetsom there are lots of companies out there that will provide you with clean power. On those two 12s you have i would run at most 1000 to each sub.

Good luck !
