2003 taurus feul cap

i need help. i just bought a 2003 taurus and the fuel cap icon on the gauge cluster came on. i replaced the fuel cap and the light is still on.:runaround:
does this need to be reset or will it go off on it's own or do i have another problem?:banghead:

If it is just a poor fitting/defective fuel cap issue..after three driving cycles the Check Engine/Service Engine Soon light should turn off.
(A driving cycle consists of a cold engine startup followed by mixed city/highway driving).
Grabbed this info out of my Chilton's manual. If this does not do the trick have get the code pulled at Autozone (free). Then post the code here.

hi
well after all the searching for what was wrong with my fuel cap light. i was on my way to autozone. the check engine turned on so in 1 last atempt i put the old cap on and on the way to autozone it reset itself.
