Gonna be changing my muffler on my '91 chevy short bed truck(5.7) currently fitted with cherry bomb glasspacks. Where is the best place to put on a flowmaster muffler(cant remember the model think its the 40 series) toward the front close to the headers, or in the middle or at the end. Thx.

I would put them under the stock heat shields.

ok, what bout sound. cuz with the glasspacks, they sound like crap toward the end on the exhaust, but sound nice in the middle. wondering the same bout flowmasters, if they sound better in the front, middle or end of the exhaust system.

I've got a 40 series FlowMaster, dual exit, on my 92 stepside, in the stock location, it sounds good as far as I'm concerned. Quiet at the stop light but lets everyone know you're there when you stomp on it.

I have a 50 series in the stock location with stock 3" single exhaust and headers. The 5.0 in my 92 K2500 rumbles at idle and only gets better wth speed.

I installed a series 40 dual in/dual out in the stock location and they sound great with the 3" tips.

i have the same experience as bigcoconut.
dual delta 40's with H-pipe and down tube (mufflers nearer the rear), nice and quiet sitting still, but gets attention when you get in the throttle.
