The blower has 5 fan speeds. For a couple weeks, when the fan was on, it squealed and made an aweful noise, now just speed 5 works (speeds 1-4 gets you nothing, not even noise).
Today I took the blower off to investigate and found the motor to be rusty.
How to fix this to get it all back to normal?
Perhaps clean it really good and lube up the motor shaft with 3:1 oil and hope it works?
What about speeds 1-4?

Oiling the bearing on the motor may take care of the squeal but the fan speed problem is due to a bad resistor. The fan resistor is located next to the fan and if the fan is out you should have good access. I costs about $45 at a dealer. This should take care of speeds 1-4.

I just found out that my 2004 Grand Prix - GT2 Special Edition needs a new A/C blower motor. My car has 67,000 miles and this is the 2nd time this part has to be replaced. Does anyone know if this is a persistant problem with this vehicle? I'm very disappointed - I've kept cars up to 125,000 miles and never had to replace this part.

FWIW:
My '04 GT1 has 165K miles on it and I have not had any problems with the A/C fan motor. My problem has been the intermediate drive shaft cracking twice....

Both of your issues are caused by water intrusion into the HVAC assembly. Use the search function, as there are multiple threads on this issue. Buy a cabin air filter for a like year Buick Regal (the GP's have the spot, GM just never installed them from the factory) and install it while you have it apart to inspect the cowl seal.
