So I was just sitting at a stop light today, and my SES light came on again. It has been off for about 2 weeks now. I haven't noticed anything different so could it just be being stupid? also, I called the dealership and he said the 84000 mile checkup thing was gonna cost about 750, and thats if they don't even have to fix anything, so.......I really don't wanna have to go there? any ideas?

My SES light kept tripping due to a "faulty lower O2 sensor bank"...my mechanic said it was fine and my mpg seems to back that statement up...possibly may be what you are looking at in regards to your SES light...
and as for the checkup...well, if the vehicle is out of warranty then I would just say take it to a local shop and ask them to look it over....belts and whatnot and ask them to winterize it for you (assuming it gets cold where you are...flush coolant system and everything). 750 for simply looking at the car is bogus...I could see 750 if they needed to change the timing belt, but my mechanic said he had never seen a 6g72 motor blow a timing belt, and I had mine checked at 100K miles and he said it was fine and to get it done at 120K (I'm at 118K and will get it done before the winter is through). This is yet another fine example of why they call it a "stealership"...
