Brake rotors and pads

Ga'Day all: I had my vehicle in for a safety inspection and was told three of four rotors are bad and are destroying the pads. They all appear to be disintegrating as if a batch of rotors were cast with a material defect. These OEM parts have only 11K on them. Would like to know if anyone has experienced similar problems.

I have only heard of this when rotors have been severely overheated which leads to cracking.

Unless you drive down a mountain towing a huge trailer its difficult to overheat brakes like this.................. unless your calipers are not retracting fully and allowing the pads to drag.

It would be helpful to know what year, make & model as well as if the safety inspection place offered to fix your problem and for how much.

Thanks for your reply. I intentionally omitted the vehicle info because the problem may not be specific to one manufacture and the dealership I went to (only to inspect the brakes after failure) was to document the problem. The NHTSB has many similar claims of failure. I am in touch with a Mfg's rep. and have filed a claim with them of which I will post the outcome.

Thanks again.
