Wife drove truck up to store, and when she came out it won't start. Cranks but no start. Fuel pump doesn't buzz either when you first turn the key. I pulled a fuse out from under the hood, for what appears to be a fuel pump relay fuse. Anyway to check this with a ohmeter. I am guessing fuel pump but dont want to drop the tank for a fuse so was wondering where to start. Thanks for any replies.

couple things to try. there should be another relay same size and type. switch that into the fuel pump relay spot. if nogo, then take air inlet tube off throttle body, squirt some throttle body cleaner or starting fluid into throttle body and try to start. if sorta starts and stumbles and dies, then chances are is fuel pump or clogged fuel filter. filter is cheapest to start, and should be changed if putting new pump on anyway, but if not hearing pump prime then doesn't sound good. is there fuel getting to the service port?
to check with a meter, use a 9-volt battery to jump pins 85 and 96, and check for continuity on pins 87 and 30. with 9-volt not hooked up, you should have continuity on pins 87a and 30. when you hook up 9-volt you should hear a click in the relay, if not then check hookup. if hookup is good, relay may be bad. it's easier to swap relays under hood than checking one with meter.

Is this the only fuse in the fuel pump system? I haven't swapped fuses yet because the other ones only have 4 prongs on them. Is it still ok to swap them? Thanks for the quick reply 16th hippy, it is appreciated.
P.S. I have continuity when checking pins 87a and 30. Also if I spray carb cleaner in the throttle body it fires up for a second, lol. So I am assuming fuel pump. Filter is only about 1 month old, so I wouldn't think it would be bad. Still no buzzing on the fuel pump when ignition is first turned on.

"ECM B" 20a fuse in the "underhood fuse block" supplies power to the pump thru the energized contacts of the relay. Those contacts would be #87 & #30. Continuity between 87a & 30 is when the relay is relaxed.

Put a fuel pressure gauge on and the specs are 60-66 psi for fuel pressure.GMs will not run under the specified fuel pressure.Go to a CarQuest auto parts store for a fuel pump if you do not want to go to the dealer for one.CarQuest did switch to Delphi for supplier of their fuel pumps and ditched Airtex which was very smart. It even says on the box with the Delphi logal whom also make fuel pumps for GM.

Replaced fuel pump and all is well. Took a while to get her primed I guess. Must have to wait for pressure to build up, but it works now and thanks to all for the quick help.

I'm just kinda curious, what pump did you end up buying? The Delphi one?
