How do I pay a speeding ticket of $0.00?

So I got a speeding ticket on the way home from work.
78 mph in a 45 zone.
The police officer said that since I was doing 35 or more over the speed limit I would have a mandatory court appearance... well I was doing 33 over... last time I checked 33 was still less than 35, and my speeding ticket has the box marked for "INFRACTION WHICH DOES NOT REQUIRE APPEARANCE IN COURT."
Now this is where the important part comes in... it has a list of options for paying tickets that do not require court appearance. number one says "Pay a civil penalty in the amount of $0.00 by mail or in person to the Clerk of Court."
So my question is, do I have to make out a check that says 0.00 on it or can I just mail them my speeding ticket and not include a check?

Well, I'd get a lawyer to fix it so you don't get points on your record and a hike on your insurance. If you pay through the mail, it means you automatically plead guilty. But if that's what you want to do, then you need to contact the court house to find out what that's all about.

yeah I can either pay the ticket, or I can pay for traffic school and I wont get points. Traffic school for 30+ is $308.50 :banghead:

My old man has a funny story about tickets. We were moving down from Salt Lake City, and were towing a trailer that didn't have a current registration. We got stopped and written a ticket by a county mounty. Well, we get home, my dad calls that county's courthouse to take care of the ticket. They reply 'We have no record of you having a ticket in this county.' So he hangs up and goes about his business. Few days later, gets a letter in the mail saying that his fine is past due, and has now doubled. He calls again to ask wtf is up, and is once again told that there is no ticket, and to not worry about it. Well, a few days later again, he gets a letter in the mail, only this time, it's a warrant for his arrest. Calls up to find out what the hell is going on, and once again, no ticket or warrant out for his arrest. Then he's driving up north to visit some family, with my mom driving, and she gets pulled over for having a tail-light out. Luckily the cop never asked for ID, or my dad would have been hauled off right then. He got home, got another letter saying the fine had tripled, then calls back, and they said 'Ohhhh, yeah, there are 2 courthouses in this county, so your ticket is probably recorded with them.' So he calls up ready to kill somebody, and they just told him not to worry about it, that because of the fuckoffs at the other courthouse(plus the fuckoff cop), they'd just drop the ticket and the warrant. This was about 10 years ago. We haven't visited that county since.

Heh... mail them your gizmo and tell them to use it until they get their senses about them and mail you a bill for what you really owe.

I had my court date, thought I would tell you guys how it went...
$308.50 fine plus court fees. Grand total is $340something. I forgot to ask him how many points I was getting.

Your lucky court fees were so little.
I ran a stop sign (more like rolled past the line 5 feet) and the cop got me, and ticketed me.
Went to the court house, Ticket was for $124.50, with a court fee of $125.00. With 1 point on my license.
I couldnt even go to traffic school because i already went 2 weeks before for a speeding ticket. Doing 41 in a 35. God most cops are dicks. :angryfire
