I have found lots of info on this great site but.....
couple of weeks ago A/C quit but heater was working and I didn't need the it for a while, then the other day things get cold and I turn heater on and blower motor made scritching noise for a moment and then worked on high. Now it does not work at all, I switched out the auto control unit and nothing. Then I got to this site and learned about the resistor, so I bought the resistor at Auto Zone.I have tried everthing to find a diagram of where it located and can't seem to locate one.

I have dropped the blower motor and tested it, it still is making noise but after a second it runs at high speed fine. The resistor appears to be above the the rubber hose coming out of the motor, but the bigger plug that I pulled off it does not match the new resistor therefore I have not removed the old.

So after all this windy talk I guess question is can anyone send a link to a diagram for the blower motor resistor? I just want to make sure I am removing the correct part because as several members have said it is a real PITA.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Rick

hello i did a search on it this what i got hope this helps
The resistor is under the glove box behind the blower motor. The motor is actually connected to the resisitor and the other connection on the resisitor comes from the climate control and relays. The part is right against the fire wall making it hard to get to. You need a socket and much patience to remove it. Good Luck.

Hi

I wonder if you have the right part. Rockauto.com shows 3 choices around $20-$30. Gmpartsdirect.com shows one with a list of $199 and they sell it for $104. On Rockauto, the first part listed shows it to be for manual controls. The second one does say "Elec.control". However, with such a disparity between the prices I wonder if the cars with the electronic climate contol use a very different part, and unfortunately it is more expensive? I have changed the part on my friend's explorer with electronic control, and his part was three times the price of the resistor for manual control.

Just a thought. Not a very nice one I'm afraid.

Good luck
